Current status of the EUDR: postponement of implementation

The Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR) represents a significant step by the European Union to shift consumer habits towards environmentally friendly products and reduce global deforestation. This regulation, which entered into force on June 29, 2023, requires companies to demonstrate that their products do not originate from recently deforested land. The EUDR also includes natural rubber, making it particularly relevant for companies using this raw material.

Our company is already preparing for the EUDR and implementing the necessary requirements. This includes adapting our internal processes to ensure all products and raw materials comply with the new regulations. Our preparations also involve establishing internal traceability of reference numbers. Once the interfaces to the EU information system are established, we will initiate the application for reference numbers for each natural rubber customer order. Due to the lack of information at this stage, we cannot yet provide specific details on how we will disseminate this data, as many questions remain unanswered by the authorities.

Despite the European Commission’s recent decision to postpone the start to the end of 2025 for large and medium-sized enterprises and mid-2026 for small and medium-sized enterprises, we continue our efforts. It is important to note that this postponement is still subject to approval by the member states.

This additional time provides us with the opportunity to thoroughly review our supply chains and ensure that all products meet the new requirements. We are committed to fulfilling our environmental responsibility and contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the protection of biodiversity.
